Should we take anti-depressants for menopause?

We at Women to Women feel the fact that so many women are now being prescribed anti-depressants for their menopausal symptoms is sending a very negative message, what do you think? Is it safe?

    Warning..answer being given by someone who is EXTREMELY moody, irritable & depressed.

    I realy truly don’t know. What alternatives are there?
    Realy – I don’t know.
    I’d love to eliminate every pill. Menopause is not a mental illness but the side effects sure can be. I don’t think it is safe. I think something else should be done.

    Not everyone in menopause will end up depressed; but, I’m told most do.
    So, the right kind of anti-depressant can really help everyone involved with menopause.
    The choice is always individual; however, everyone in menopause who is depressed should strongly consider taking an anti-depressant.
