Severe PMS or perimenopause symptoms?
Sally_M asked:
Hi, every other month I am experiencing SEVERE PMS symptoms before the onset of my periods. These are not the regular PMS symptoms, the pains are five fold it includes Entire Body Pains, and Severe back pain. This happens every alternate month, the next month has regular PMS symptoms like regular pains and bloating and the periods get delayed. Does this mean that this is the perimenopausal stage for a person who is about enter their 41st year? or is this too early to think about it? Your Feedback would really help! THANKS! Any experiences and thoughts would help.

The average age for the onset of perimenopause is 46, and the average age for menopause is 51. It’s not too early for you to think about perimenopause though, as some women begin as early as their mid-30s. Early symptoms are different for each woman, so if I were you I’d go to your gynecologist, have a pelvic exam and ask them to check your thyroid and hormone levels for a baseline, and then check them a month or two later to see if they’re stable. Good luck – I’m in perimenopause too and I know how rough it can be!
