red clover?

sunnysue asked:

Has anyone out there gained any positive benefits from taking Red Clover for menopause symptoms? I’m very confused with all the conflicting stuff I’ve read so far.

I wouldn’t worry too much about conflicting reports as you do find this with herbals. What works for one may not necessarily work for another and vice versa. It is best to try one and see how you feel and if it doesn’t work for you then try another – but you need to give herbals a few months to see the maximum benefit. Others supplements/herbals worth trying:
Vitamin E (400iu) – helps preserve any existing hormone and thus reducing all symptoms
Agnus Castus (chaste berry) – helps regulate the hormonal cycle naturally – has been shown to offer benefit for both peri-menopause andPMT symptoms

Other herbals: Black Cohosh, Red Clover, Dong Quai, Soy Isoflavones**, Sage, magnesium/calcium supplement.

I would avoid soy isoflavones if you are possibly at risk of having a reduced thyroid function as there is some evidence that soy can interfere with thyroid function.

Hope this helps. Persevere with the Red Clover and if no positive results are felt after a few months then try another. But it would be worth taking Vitamin E and also considering taking Agnus castus alongside the Red Clover.

    Best wishes.
