Night sweats and period every other month, Is It Menopause?

pussykatlady asked:

I have had (6) six periods a yr. for the last (2) two yrs. One every other month, I have had night sweats for the last (2) two yrs also. Is this menapause? I don’t mind the (6) periods a yr., but the night sweats are miserable. Are they any over the counter meds that can help?

Depends how old you are. If you are under 45 then its not menopause, see your Doctor there is nothing over the counter you can get.

What you are in is called Peri menopause. Talk to your gyno and he or she can give you something to help the night sweats. Or go to the pharmacist and they can suggest something over the counter.

There are many different causes of night sweats. To determine what is causing night sweats in a particular patient, a doctor must obtain a detailed medical history and order tests to decide if an underlying medical condition is responsible for the night sweats. The hot flashes that accompany the menopausal transition can occur at night and cause sweating. This is a very common cause of night sweats in perimenopausal women.
