My daughter has been experiencing hot flashes since she was 18! What causes this?

My daughter is now thirty-six years old and has seen a GP, Gyno, Endocrinologist, and Internist. She shows no signs of menopause or perimenopause according to a number or exams and blood tests. i feel for her… 48 here and at the tale end of menapause, and the flashes are all I have left….. hormones !!! it has to be…. I would search out the net for a few good ideas of what it could be…. sometimes things go undetected….. and I have heard of cyst that can cause such things…… dig deep till you find the answer….. hello…. she is NOT alone. I know what she is going through. It has controlled my life and taken over my life. I have given up on wearing make up or fixing my hair. The make swets off on to my clothes, and my hair gets so wet that it goes flat, and I have had people ask me why I am swetting in the middle of winter. I was on this date one time. I went to the bathroom and came back and my hair was wet, the guy goes oh you washed your hair in the bathroom. I could have died. I do not bother going out anymore, or to places where I need to look nice. My family does not understand why I dont wear make up or fix my hair. No matter what kind of deoderant how much, I am ALWAYS wet under my arm pits. Good thing my arm pits swet does not stink. It really sucked at my sisters wedding, I was the wet matron of honor. I was all swety, my make up came off, my hair went flat, and swet dripping down my face and neck. I researched this. There is a solution. This called over active swet glands. There is a swet gland under the arm pit, that causes excessive sweating to the head and face. You can have that swet glan cut, to stop the swet. There is a dr. in CA that will perform the procedure. It is safe and it works. There is one side effect though, many who havd had it, noticed they started to swet on their stomaches. But heck I figure stomache is better then face and head. I notice if I get nervouse about something, my head seems to swet even more. I know all to well what your daughter is going through. My hair can be competely dry and the next thing I know it is soacked with swet, and it is dripping down my neck. Looks like I just got out of shower and never dried off. I always have to carry napkins with me, so I can dab the swet off my face. Tell her she is not alone, and that I am misserable with her. Tell her to reseach on the net, over active swet glands. I want to have the surgery, I live in Minnesota and have been waiting for it to come to this area. I hope this has been some help…. It can be middle of winter, below zero and I am swetting. I have even tried putting my make up in car in winter in the cold, and I still swett, even in front of the ac at home I swet and the make up comes off.

My mother had these same issues and she’s 42! I know because there is no way she can hid this when we live in the same house. She went to the gyno a couple of times and she got some pills… never saw what she got, none of my business but I see she is a whole lot happier now. Just keep going to the gyno and c what he/she can do to help. Everything is treatable. Im sure my mom got some new medicine, but these med’s have some side effects.

Ive been having hot flashes since high school and im only 21. Birth control pills helped for me. I had to switch different kinds until i found the right one which was orthro cyclen. Tell her to try to stay in a cool spot or fan herself if she has to. Try baby powder with pure cornstarch and wear shirts unederneath clothing
