Menstrual Cramps all month long?
Shi asked:
Hi, I’m a 30 year old female. I am NOT pregnant. I have a history of having pretty severe menstrual cramps during my period. But the last couple of months I’ve been experiencing pretty constant menstrual-like cramping no matter what time of the month it is. These cramps feel much less severe than the cramps that I get on the first day of my period. But they are still bothersome, and more so they’re beginning to concern me. I don’t understand why I suddenly always feel like I’m about to start my period at any moment, even when it’s not due. So far, I haven’t had any unwarranted bleeding. Nor has my flow changed when my period actually arrives.

I’ve tried to look online for some answers, but everything that comes up is about pregnant women experiencing this. I am absolutely NOT pregnant. So has anyone experienced symptoms like this? Is it some sort of early menopause symptom?? Am I going to need a hysterectomy??
Thanks in advance for tales of experience, etc.
I’m not sure if it is related, but I’ve been extremely fatigued lately too. I am always feeling really sleepy, plus have no energy to do regular daily activities.

I would advise going to see your GP and ask about it. It could be something that could be easy to cure with medication.

I get this too – I’m usually pain-free for a total of 10 days per month. I know what kind of pain you are talking about – the dull achey crampy pain that isn’t quite like full-blown period pain. I especially get this around the time that I ovulate until the time I get my period and then my cramps get even worse (usually to the point that painkillers don’t work).
Chronic pelvic pain can be the result of many different things including cysts, endometriosis (which my doctors believe I may suffer from), adhesions, and more. I would call up the doctor and make an appointment to discuss your pain problems. There are many options such as painkillers, birth control pill, laparoscopic surgery (to determine if there is tissue where there should not be tissue, etc.) and more.
add: Fatigue is one of the ‘key players’ in endometriosis. Some with endo will feel fatigued throughout everday things, and others may feel more fatigued during certain times of the month (usually around ovulation AND during their period). I usually become incredibly fatigued when I get my period along with massive cramps but some months will also feel fatigued around the time of ovulation.
Definitley visit a doctor and have a talk about all of your symptoms/problems. If you did infact have endo (it can only be determined via laparascopic surgery), hysterectomy isn’t always the answer…in fact, there is no answer or cure for endo unfortunately.

You need to see an ob/gyn. There are conditions called endometriosis and adenomyosis (have had both) that can cause pain like this. Find out now and you will save yourself a lot of pain. Can be treated in a variety of different ways and yes, you should still be able to have kids (I did)

I have horrible cramps also during my period, to the point of passing out and throwing up. I usually start having slight cramps about a week, maybe a little longer before my period. I’ve noticed its usually around my “fertile” time of the month. I think it could just be your body getting ready for the upcoming period. Mine usually goes away on their own if i just relax and maybe try to take a nap, sometimes i take 2 ibprofen and that always clears it up.
