    menopause

Birth control pills put you in a cycle that you don’t need to be in anymore. I had a complete hysterectomy at a very young age because of endometriosis. I had a hard time gettng back to feeling right hormonally until I talked to a psychiatrist (MD) who knew a lot about women’s health. I told her it did not make sense to me that I should be on birth control pills because they produce different levels of hormones ( and there is even a week of none – just sugar pills). I could tell I just wasn’t in balance until I talked to her about it, and she agreed, no reason for putting me through fluctuating hormones anymore, I just needed something steady and mild to keep the hotflashes at bay. So she put me on 2mg of estradiol once a day, and I could tell that was exactly what I needed within a week. It’s not even been like menopause at all, after I got on the right thing. Which was simple. I checked with a new OB-GYN and she said the shrink did exactly the right thing. Common sense dictates you do not need progesterone anymore (that hormone has a lot to do with getting your period, and it makes you feel lousy, has a lot to do with PMS, bloat, etc and yet it is a part of birth control pills. My suggestion is to get OFF of the birth control pills ASAP and JUST TAKE ESTROGEN (that is all you are missing. You can even get a patch that you only need to change once a week if you want. But Estrogen is the solution to all of the symptoms of menopause, and the more they mix in it, the more you are just going to feel some bad side effects. I hope you find this out before you have to go through all of the hotflashes and mood changes and stuff that birth control pills don’t help with at all. PLUS estrogen is good for your veins and heart, and studies show more and more benefits. It is crucial you get estrogen, especially if you have had a hysterectomy and don’t have your ovaries anymore.
Wishing you happy menopause – it’s possible! :-) TSD
