Nope. I am starting it young and regretting it. It sucks. Hot flashes, migraines and insomnia are nothing to be happy about.

I feel sorry for my husband when it finally happens to me because I am going to be way up there on the b!tch scale foe sure.
And yes, I cannot wait for it! I didn’t even get a break after I gave birth! Six weeks to the day after my c section, while breastfeeding, it came back. **SO** unfair!

I did… and then I got a menstrual cup and guess what, no more cramps and my periods don’t really bother me anymore.
I’ve heard that your periods get really irregular and unpredictable when you’re starting menopause…I say, bring it on! My cup and me are ready.

I SO feel for you! I had menstruated since I was 11 till 48 when I had a hysterectomy for severe bleeding due to fibroids. So, with the exception of 3 pregnancies and breastfeeding, I also had 34 years (408 times!) of menses.
I have no clue when I would have reached natural menopause, since my mother had a hysterectomy for the same reasons as mine at the age of 54 while still having more or less regular periods!
It is bliss to not worry about periods etc.For a while I just could not beleive that MEN live like that all their lives! So much mental and physcical energy is released – no worries about calendars, pads, tampons, extra clothes, cramps, meds for cramps, headaches, heavy flow that bled through layers of clothes, finding bathrooms in time, having extra clothes, finding “acceptable” excuses to avoid swimming, sports etc., changing sheets, dying of embarrassment when sharing a bed with a new partner and bleeding through 2 tampons and pads and fainting – yes – fainting – in the middle of a theater show- due to severe blood loss etc etc.
But, there is light at the end of the tunnel! It does end – eventually!
BTW, isn’t is so unfair that all the best experiences in a woman’s life always involve blood and pain (i try to not talk like that to young girls on Y!A) :growing up , menarcher – blod and pain,
first love, loss of virginity – blood and pain,
becoming a mother – blood and pain
finally growing out of menstrual slavery – again blood and pain.
Think: isn’t it only fair to expect to be taken care of, to not have to work for a living, to have heavy burdens lifted and doors opened for us as a tiny compensation for all the blood and pain?!
It has not worked like that for me: I have a grad degree, have supported myself and my kids (after divorce) for a loooong time, now in second marriage but am sitll working, and have a horrible 17 more years to work till 67!

I used to think the same thing at one time and I. I have even went as much as nine months not had a visit from Aunt Flo for as long as nine months at a time without having a baby. Most of this was due to the tremendous stress of marrying my husband. My daughter started and later on birth control caused mine to start being regular. I had thoughts of putting her up for adoption at 13 because of this. I hated that time of the month. I have since realized that as unattractive as the whole thing is, is that it is what keeps our hair, skin softer and helps us maintain a more youthful appearance. I know that some women can’t help their female problems and a hysterectomy is their only option, but, it is rather an over performed process. Some women opt for it at the first sign of female problems so that they can avoid the menopause process, but, it is something that is natural and should try to endure as another stage in our lives. I’ll buy the feminine products happily until it is my time and don’t want to rush anything. You do this too sweetheart, be as girly as long as you can.

Well I’m way past 45 and I think I’m currently in what they call “peri-menopause”. Sometimes I wake up bathing in sweat, the whole area between chin & belly is soaking wet. According to the book, this should be accompanied by feelings of panic or at least anxiety, but so far I just feel uncomfortable when that happens. I made a decision that I won’t make more drama out of it then absolutely necessary. Most of the times I suppress my period with BC pills. I still feel like a sex machine, but a veteran sex machine. I’ll take things as they come. Keep it up Mrs. G.

Oh was I ever just down rite fortunate. Just turned 50, EVERYTHING STOPPED, never to return again. I may have had “hot flashes” for a yr. or a tad bit more in the mornings only when I tried to curl my WET hair, but that was the extent of it. Throughout the yrs. I NEVER had a bit of problems either, no cramps, no PMS! I KNOW I was so fortunate, & my condolences DO go out to all those who do have the many problems they cope with. I AM grateful tho in that area of my life. NOT SO w/arth tho! Am on the STRONGEST pain meds. I HATE, can “forecast” the weather BETTER than the weathermen can. Can’t stand up straight to get dressed until my pain meds. kick in. SO, I guess IF one thing doesn’t “get you”, something else sure will…:)

I can’t wait either! I have no symptoms other than irregular periods, and my doctor assures me that I’m sailing through this experience relatively unscathed. All I know is that surprise visits from Auntie are even more annoying than when she was appearing on a regularly scheduled basis.
Come on, ovaries – die already, will ya?!?
ADD: LOL @ Eggy911! I know, girl, I know…I felt the same way at 13. Hang in there, you’ll even out and your periods will be nothing but a minor inconvenience for the next 30 or 40 years.
