I believe my hair issues could be the result of menopause. HELP?

Maria W asked:

I am going through menopause and lately my hair has changed. It breaks easily and is getting thinner. I always had fine hair, but it’s really looking thin and dull with no body. Products don’t seem to help much, they just weigh it down and make it feel sort of “coated”. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You could probably get clip ons, hair extensions, or see a doctor.

don’t get extensions! they will break your hair even more- they are really tough!

the first thing you need to do is talk to your doctor. your body is changing in many ways and he can help with ideas.

first, i would go to GNC and get a supplement called ‘hair skin and Nails.’ they are a multivitamin that will help a little bit

Menopause can cause changes in the hair like thinning and breakage. You don’t say what products you use so I can’t really say whether the ones you are using are good or not. Pantene and Dove will leave your hair coated since they contain ingredients that claim to “fix” split ends which everyone knows can’t be done without cutting them off. They just coat the hair to slick down the split ends and it can build up on your hair. My hair has been thin all my life and I am in the pre-menopause stage so I know what you are going through. I would recommend a good salon brand that will help your hair type. Try Redken Extreme it is made for breakage or Redken Body Full that is made not to weigh hair down. Ask the stylist what products would work for your hair.
