Can women still go through menopause even if they had a partial hysterectomy?
Maria W asked:
I had my uterus removed but my tubes and overies remain. I am on no medications. I have just been having so many mood changes lately and some other symptoms of peri-menopause. I hope that’s what it is and I’m not going nuts!!

I’m no expert but my mom had a hysterectomy and still went through menopause, only it happened really quickly (menopause is supposed to take place over a few years and hers started and finished within a couple of MONTHS) and she got very ill. Talk to your doctor if you’re really concerned

Well i don’t know much about partial hysterectomy. But the definition of menopause is when your body stop producing the esterogen. Of course you will go through menopause, and i believe that the procedure will shorten the period to menopause since it will be messing with the normal regulation of hormone in you….
I hope i’m helping

I guess my first question would be how old are you?
Normal menopause happens at about age 52, but it can occur anywhere from your 30′s to your 60′s. Sounds to me like you are getting the normal symptoms associated with perimenopause. Check with your doctor. If you are experiencing mood changes alot – might want to suggest having him put you on a low dose anti-depressant med.
