Rich and famous

I have this feeling that all the people that live in Huntington Beach, California, must be either rich and famous or both. I do have a friend who lives there. Now this particular friend is neither super rich nor famous, but I do know that he has always been very frugal with his money all throughout his life and now can live wherever he wants to. I guess some people just have a knack for knowing what to do with money to make it grow even in an economy that is not doing so well. He told me that he has a lot of items in his home that are worth a lot of money. He didn’t spend a lot of money to get them, but they have grown in value over the years and no telling how much it is all worth now. Anyway, he had to get a security system through huntington beach home security systems to protect everything in his home. I don’t know how he learned everything that he has learned about money because he started with nothing. I think he just worked so hard to get what he has, that he wants to keep as much of it as possible.

My sister is going to be a junior in college and is finally getting her own apartment. Her freshmen year she was required to live in the dorms and her sophomore year she was required to live in the sorority house. In both places, all her utilities were included. Moving into an apartment has been a shock for her. She had no idea how much an electric bill, water bill or ExpertSatellite bill would be. She struggled to make a budget and she struggle to pay the bills. She had the money to pay then, but she was wasting a lot of it going out with friends or going to elegant dinners. She asked me for help and I was happy to help her get things under control. It is a very difficult adjustment and I struggled with it too. She can still do everything she wants to do, but in moderation. She is quickly learning the value of the dollar and quickly learning the lesson of saving. She is a smart person and I know next month will be a lot easier on her.

Having a vacation home is great and bad at times, but for different reasons. Ours is in Hawaii and obviously it’s great because we’re able to go out there and have a vacation anytime we want and not have to check on hotels or anything like that. It’s bad because it’s a lot of work and even when we’re not staying there we have to think about it a lot and put resources into the care and maintenance. Since it’s a stand alone home we looked into honolulu HOME SECURITYand had to hire a lawn care company to come out once every two weeks and since we don’t live there we had to hire a property management firm, too. There’s nothing like the feeling of landing at the airport, high tailing it to the house and putting our stuff away then darting for the beach but boy is there a lot to keep up with even when we’re not on vacation! It made sound economic sense, though, so it was the right call.

My brother and I have a woodworking business together and it’s been the best professional decision I’ve ever made. I love going to work with him each and every day and it’s nice to be able to work with my hands and actually create a product that’s tangible and real. I like being so creative and I sure do like getting paid for it, I tell you what! Jim’s a lot better at all the logistical business side stuff like HR and going to BANK-CARD-PROCESSING.com for credit card payment options. All of that’s sort of over my head and I really just like to spend my free time in the shop working on orders and looking into new products we could buy or carry. I guess that’s why this works so well – our styles really complement each other – but we knew that from the get go and that’s why we decided to go into business together in the first place! Jim’s a great business partner and an even better brother.

Have you guys heard about the show “Planet Earth” on the Animal Planet channel? I think it is my favorite educational show. I watch the show on www.expertsatellite.com TV every chance I get. My sister has offered to buy it for me on DVD but I think that she is lying when she says that. What she is really going to do is buy it on Blu Ray and steal my money from me to pay for it. That’s why when I watch Planet Earth, I lock my door and wear a tin foil hat. She reads my thoughts about the show, “Wow, I can’t believe that giraffes knock their necks together when they fight! I wouldn’t fight like that if I were a giraffe. I’d learn how to hold a knife and take dominion over all of the other giraffes in Africa. That would show those guys on Planet Earth.” I know that my sister means well sometimes but when it comes to Planet Earth I don’t think she truly understands where I am coming from. Thanks to the educational content of Planet Earth, I want to become the greatest hunter the world has ever seen. I will specifically hunt the animals that are close to extinction. I think that if I do this I will get my own TV show on Chinese television.
